Testimonies from our Clients

River of Life Christmas 2011 Outreach and Christmas Party testimonies:

God is wonderful! River of Life Homes served thousands of people with
Operation Care International on December 17, 2011 from about 7:30 am to
1pm. Hundreds of people gave their lives to God. River of Life Homes
handed out shelter information to about eighty people.

After the outreach at the Dallas Convention Center, Christmas Party was
held at the River of Life Homes Shelter. About thirteen children and
fourteen adults attended the party. Food was served. Children and their
mothers received their Christmas gifts.

One of River of Life Homes residents share her testimony how her teeth
were knocked out by her abuser, and how her dog was killed. Her dog was
the only friend and comfort she had after losing everything. When God
brought her to River of Life Homes, she was able to turn her life back to
God. She is gradually recovering, restoring and renewing her life. She has
a job she loves and still looking forward to accomplishing more.

The second testimony was share by River of Life Homes' ex-resident. This
particular lady share how she lost everything she worked for all her life
in a twinkling of an eye, and how her daughter's boyfriend tried to beat
out the baby inside her womb. Her daughter thought she lost the baby after
several bleeding. Few months after God brought her and her daughter to
River of Life Homes, her daughter started experiencing some discomforts.
Daughter went to the Hospital, doctors said it must be the left over from
miscarriage,
D&C was performed, yet the baby was still very much alive in the mother's
womb. It is a miracle! God always protects His children. The baby boy is
born and doing well. Grandma is completing her education and starting her
career job this month.

Christmas story was told to the children. One of our board members told
the children how and why our Lord Jesus Christ was born. One of the
children asked "what is the difference between Santa Clause and Jesus?
Different answers were given. One of the answers was Santa Clause gives
gifts if you are good, but Jesus' gift of life is unconditional. Then, a
question was asked to the children; whose birthday is it? They answered,
Jesus! Another question was asked; what does Jesus want for His birthday?
They all looked at one another. One of the children said, Jesus wants "us"
for His birthday. What a revelation from the Holy Spirit out of the baby's
mouth.

The party ended with powerful prayers by and for individuals. We give all
the glory to God! Some pictures may be on ROLH website.

Special thanks to our partners, donors, volunteers, and board members.

Other testimonies:

I want to share a huge praise report with you regarding two new women admitted into the shelter last Saturday evening, Judy and her college-age daughter Victoria.  After having lost their home and just about everything in it in a tornado in Wisconsin and having traveled here for three days on trains and buses, they arrived late last Saturday exhausted with their feet swollen like balloons.  Their sweet and humble spirits and wonderfully positive outlook toward the future is what caught my attention.  After all they had been through, while sitting filling out a lengthy application for ROLH, they talked about the future with hope and anticipation, and of all things, inquired about Bible studies and where they could attend church services.

Lovina quickly offered them a ride to my church the following morning :), Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson.  We finished up around 9:30 or 10pm that evening.  It was late and all were tired.  The next morning as I drove to the shelter to pick up Judy and Victoria for 9am Bible Study, I have to admit, I was expecting to find them in bed. However, when I walked in the door, I instead found them both up walking around, dressed beautifully for church, and FULL of enthusiasm. They somehow rummaged through a bag of clothes Lovina gave to them, and found beautiful things to wear.  No one would have ever suspected what they had recently been through by looking at them.

When we arrived at church, we got each of them into their age-appropriate Bible study class.  (I want to mention here that these ladies had not had much to eat for several days.)  As our Lord would have it, when Judy arrived in her class, because it was the fifth Sunday of the month, they were having a breakfast!!!   During the prayer part of our church service, the pastor of Victoria's Bible study class came up to her mother Judy where we were seated and told her, "You're daughter was in my class this morning, and I know what you've been through; I'd like to pray with you if that's okay."  Judy gladly received the prayer and was deeply touched.  It was if the Lord orchestrated every detail.  Pastor began to preach his message about what to do and how we turn to God when we face huge challenges and crises in our lives.  Every bit of the message could have been applied to exactly what they had been going through.

After service, although Judy is saved, she came forward to re-dedicate her life to Christ.  She feels like God is giving them a fresh start in Dallas and wanted to start fresh with God right from the start!  After service, Mike, the pastor who prayed for Judy, announced to the church that Judy and her daughter had just been through a tremendous loss.  He asked the church to form a line and come down the front of the church to meet them, love on them, and pray for them.  He also added that we could do even more than pray by offering them any form of help since they were really starting over. The church came together for about 45 minutes following service to greet Judy and Victoria, inquire about their needs, and bless them with a love offering.  Several have come forward to help and offer job leads, etc. In the meantime, the ladies have already been back to church Wednesday evening for more Bible study!!!

From the moment I laid eyes on these two women, I knew they were special. I can see God's divine hand of favor on their lives.  After service Sunday, they joined us in our home for lunch with another church family. We pampered them and made them rest all afternoon.  It really gave us a chance to get to know them a little better.  On Monday, they rested up all day.  Every day since, my family and I have been helping them to learn their way around town, providing some transportation, and have opened up our home for them to use the computer to print resumes and apply for jobs.  They are very diligent, committed, hard working, and very optimistic about their future.  Needless to say, they are very grateful for the help they are receiving and for the love of Christ that is being extended to them through many people.  I fully expect their story to turn in to a huge praise report that we can document for River of Life.  In fact, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they wound up volunteering at ROLH in the future!!!!
